Celtic Crosses Tour
Saturday, May 17th, 9am-12noon $12.00 pp
Oakwood has spectacular examples of the art of the Celtic Cross, said to be a pillar that links heaven and earth. Come enjoy the spring foliage while examining the history and symbolism of these memorial stones. Walk/drive led by the highly entertaining Michael Barrett.
Memorial Day Ecumenical Service
Saturday, May 24th, 9am FREE
Join Oakwood and the veterans of Lansingburgh for their annual graveside Wreath Laying Ceremony, and placement of flags at the Soldiers' Plot. Oakwood President Tom Maggs and program volunteer Michael Barrett will officiate. Held indoors in case of heavy rain only.
Spring Bird Walk
Saturday, May 31st, 8am-10am $12.00 pp
Beginners are welcome on this easy stroll. Learn identifying tips on where to look and what to listen for. Previous years' birds have included bluebird, indigo bunting, red-tailed hawk, bald eagle, red-bellied woodpecker and even a close encounter with an oriole! Bring binoculars & wear sturdy shoes. A few loaner binoculars may be available. Clint Anglin, Naomi Jaffe and Heidi Klinowski will lead this annual rite of Spring. Rain date June 1st - check our Facebook page for updates.
