Directions to Oakwood
Oakwood Cemetery is located near the Lansingburgh area of
northern Troy, New York, east of Cohoes and northeast of Albany, the capital of New York
State.
Oakwood Avenue, is Route 40.
There is an entrance to the cemetery from Oakwood Avenue. The office is at the bottom of the hill, at the east end of 101st Street. The office is best reached from 101st Street off of River Street. NOTE: If you are using mapping software to find the Chapel and main part of the cemetery, use "186 Oakwood Avenue" Do not put in "50 101st Street". The road above the office is blocked off.
Route 40 (Oakwood Ave.) intersects with Route 142 to the
north and Route 7 to the south, near the center of Troy. Route 7 in Troy is also called
Hoosick Street. Interstate 787 has an exit to Troy at Route 7. (Don't be confused,
because Route 7 in New York State becomes Route 9 at the Vermont border).
From Hoosick Street, turn north on Route 40. Go past St. Mary's Hospital and Frear Park. Within a half mile you will see on your left the entrance to Oakwood Cemetery. The Oakwood Avenue gate is open 8:30 am - 4:30 pm , 365 days a year.
