1.) Did you know that if you are 70 and 1/2 or older, Congress has passed a law allowing you to send up to $100,000 directly from your regular IRA or Roth IRA to Oakwood on a totally tax-free basis? You may only do this for 2007. This may allow you to doante to us a much larger amount than you might normally donate. Please consult your tax advisor. The check from your IRA should be made payable to Troy Cemetery Assocaition Inc. and sent to 50 101st Street, Troy, NY 12180.
2.) There are several places on the internet which help registered not-for-profits. We have registered with probably the best known, www.igive.com. igive is an internet shopping portal that allows you to support us while you shop on line, at no additional cost to you.
Every time you want to shop online, you go to www.igive.com and do your shopping from one of more than 600 stores (See the partial list on the bottom of this page). Oakwood will receive a donation, (depending on the vendor) from 1% up to 26% on each purchase you make, at no cost to you.
If you are new to www.igive.com register with "Oakwood Cemetery (Troy Cemetery Association,
Inc.)" (written exactly as everything in quotes) as your "cause" and make your first on-line purchase. Oakwood Cemetery will get an additional $5 donation because you are a new registrant ! Register at www.igive.com
So, if you do your Christmas shopping via www.igive.com you will be helping your Christmas gift recipients and Oakwood at the same time.
Go to www.igive.com and register your not-for-profit as Oakwood Cemetery (Troy Cemetery Association, Inc.)
Then select the store you wish to shop online at, from the igive list, click on that store's name and do your shopping. It is that easy ! WOW! (There are 670 stores which support igive).
