Honoring All Who Served

Oakwood Cemetery proudly honors the service of our nation's veterans. Our Veterans Memorial Circle and flagpole, located near our main entrance gate, is dedicated to all veterans interred at Oakwood. On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, we celebrate our veterans with a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument, held in conjunction with the Veterans of Lansingburgh.

Our Soldier's Plot provides grave space, free of charge, for any veteran who does not have resources to pay for a plot.

During the Civil War 150th anniversary years (2011-2015), we are in the process of locating the graves of all Civil War veterans interred at Oakwood. To date, we have identified and placed an American flag on the graves of approximately 500 Civil War veterans. Our volunteers are recording detailed information and mapping the graves so these heroes will never be forgotten.
