A Welcoming and Sacred Place for All
The founders of Oakwood envisioned this as a place where the entire community could enjoy
nature and find respite from the bustle of urban life.
Today, as then, we welcome and encourage visitors during daylight hours to walk, bicycle and
otherwise enjoy the beauty of our tranquil grounds. We ask that you observe our rules and
regulations, and exhibit the respect that is appropriate for a cemetery.
Dog walking is permitted at Oakwood, provided that the dogs are leashed at all times and
under 100 percent control of their owners.
We invite you to explore the grounds on your own, or join one of our guided tours, including
history tours, nature hikes and our Annual Spring Bird Walk. If you would like to arrange a
private tour for your group, please call us at (518) 272-7520, or contact us online.
The main entrance gate (Oakwood Avenue) is open 7 days a week 8am-7pm.
The 101st Street (office entrance) is open each day from 8am-4:30pm.
The north entrance gate (114th Street) is open each day from 9am-4pm.
For your safety, the cemetery gates may be closed during severe weather.
Office hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 pm. Saturdays 9am – 12 noon. Closed Sundays.
